Enjoying a vegan-friendly white Burgundy this evening 🥂 I haven't been on here much as I've been taking a wine break. Not quite the entire dry January but a lot drier than usual and then been a lot more moderate this month too. What this DOES mean, however, is that I really appreciate a glass of wine when I do have one! Really enjoying the Tall Horse South African Sauvignon Blanc which came in my latest wine order from @veganwinebox I am not generally a fan of Sauvignon Blancs and in fact I wasn't keen on the Montes Chilean Sauvignon which came in the same wine case as I found it too lemony tasting. It did have a lovely aroma but the taste was too 'green' for me. This Tall Horse Sauvignon, however, is delicious. It has an altogether different aroma and flavour to the Montes. Today's tipple is another Italian Pinot Grigio. I actually had a vegan friendly Cava yesterday and then back to wine today. A gift from my best friend and we always tend towards easy drinking Italian Pinot when we're together so this was a shared easy tipple. This would have been an affordable bottle but it tastes really nice. Very light, crisp and refreshing with definite peach notes. Christmas dinner Vegan style. All the trimmings, full of love 💖💖 Love that as a family we embrace a vegan lifestyle. Could not be more proud of my children for making their own decisions to stop eating meat over 6 years ago now. Beautiful compassionate souls. Even my other half who is German and who was brought up on a heavy meat diet now happily embraces a meat-free lifestyle. Just placed my first order from @veganwinebox Had some lame wines recently due to trying to be a little too budget friendly 😢 so figured I needed a bit of inspiration and the ladies who run this company seem to work really hard sourcing these vegan wines. I still kept within my budget but a step up from my previous wine order. Tried this lovely looking Rosé wine this week. Placed an order for a handful of vegan (and budget) friendly wines from @aldiuk which arrived at the weekend. I wanted to share it as I thought it looked really lovely but I didn't much enjoy the wine itself. I couldn't quite put my finger on why. It was definitely fruity and had a clear taste of red berries but it left an unpleasant aftertaste that meant it didn't go down too well. It wasn't an expensive wine but some affordable wines can still taste decent. It was medium-dry rather than dry and I do tend to prefer dry rosé wines so maybe that was partly to do with it. Finally made it to the third book by @carofeely about her and her family's adventures as organic winegrowers in France. Loved the focus on organic and biodynamic farming in the second book and the theme continues in this third book. Really eye opening about the need to buy organic. I am already an organic and eco convert when it comes to fruit and vegetables and dairy products for my children but I don't usually seek out organic wine. I have to say after reading Caro's second book I will be gradually making a change. I've been so busy enjoying wine I just keep forgetting to share the ones I love 🍷😀 I enjoyed this Anello Piemonte Doc Barbera 2018 red wine last week. One of the vegan wines I bought from my last @virginwines case and in fact the only red I selected. Reds are never my go-to tipple but this red could certainly become a firm favourite. It felt perfect for the situation, a chilly Autumnal evening after a long walk, log fire on and then a glass of this Barbera wine. What struck me in the main was how deliciously fruity it was, hints of blueberry and cherry and maybe even a little plum.
